HONGKONG: A Looming Workers Shortage Due To Restrictive Population Policies

By 2018, it is estimated that Hong Kong will lack 14 thousand workers to maintain its economic growth.
This emergency case will  be a first in the country’s history.  The reason behind this is the low birth rate in the country which is primarily the result of its policies on birth control.  The current average is 1.04 children for every woman.  In order to meet the demand, this has to grow to at least 2.01.
