Make It Valentine’s Day Everyday

“Nothing you can make that can’t be made.
No one you can save that can’t be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time.
It’s easy.
All you need is love.
All you need is love.
All you need is love, love.
Love is all you need.”

–       The Beatles

Love is more pronounced around once more as people commemorate and celebrate the month of hearts – and of course, Valentine’s Day.

To most people, Valentine’s Day may just be an ordinary day; others think of it as nothing but a capitalist idea to make money out of lovers; but to some, it is a day to remember and celebrate how victorious love can be.

“All I know is that it’s one of the rare times my dad gives flowers to my mom. I don’t exactly know why it’s special, but maybe because it’s like the only day when anybody can be mushy without being judged.”    –  Kasmir Osias, 18

“It’s in celebration of St. Valentine. Though most people only see the romantic side, it’s a celebration of love in all forms.”  –  Christ Deatras, 19

“Valentine’s day is a celebration in honor of Saint Valentine who was beheaded some century ago. I think it’s special because it’s a day where it’s acceptable to pull a move on your crush than any other day in the year.”      –  Lea Caballes, 17

Today, it’s (Valentine’s) obviously commercialized, which at the root and intention, isn’t really that bad. It’s special because it offers couples an opportunity to celebrate each other. I’ve spent Valentine’s with friends and family before. It’s always fun as long as you celebrate with someone close to your heart.”              –  Jen Munoz, 21

Stripping off the occasion of the chocolates, the roses, the fancy gifts and restaurants, what is it really about and what is the story behind it?  Valentine’s is remembered up to this day because of people who believed in love and how it can conquer.

Love can never be defeated—and this love shouldn’t be only celebrated on one day, or one month, but on every single day.  Love isn’t only about your better half, but it is also about celebrating the love one shares with friends, family and all those one holds dear. You don’t need to wait for Valentine’s day to show someone your love but one must know how this day is simply a significant reminder to help everyone remember why love lasts a lifetime.
