Malta Faces Divorce Referendum

Malta, one of the last remaining Catholic nations, is preparing for a referendum tomorrow at which citizens will vote for or against the legalization of divorce.
The percentage of those in favor had been winning in polls until recently. But now the vote has become too close to predict due to a decrease in the number of divorce supporters.
In a Pastoral Letter released several days ago, the country’s bishops pointed out that “Marriage goes hand in hand with the dignity of mankind” and say that “by this vote the citizen will either build or destroy”.
Malta’s population will indeed need prayers this weekend since it is one of the last two countries in the world prohibiting divorce along with the Philippines.
