Manny Pacquiao: Did He Do the Right Thing?

On February 15, 2016 Bilang Pilipino posted a video of Manny Pacquiao talking about his view on same sex “marriage.” The comments created a firestorm of reactions – mostly bullying from LGBT supporters. Here is the said video:

Manny Pacquiao on same-sex marriage“Mas masahol pa sa hayop.” Senatorial aspirant and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao had this to say when we asked him for his stand on same-sex marriage. #BilangPilipino Posted by Bilang Pilipino on Monday, February 15, 2016

He followed it with an Instagram post saying: “I rather obey the Lord’s command than obeying the desires of the flesh. Im not condemning anyone, but I’m just telling the truth of what the Bible says. The truth from the Bible is what changed me from my old ways. 1 Corinthians 6:9 ‘[9] Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men.’ God Bless everyone i love you all.

Due to the bullying, he eventually apologized for hurting their feelings, but not for his stand through a video on Twitter:

Family and Life Update stands with Manny Pacquiao in upholding the sacredness of marriage. That marriage, and sex in marriage, is both unitive and procreative – both to unite a man and woman towards God, and to bring children into the world. FALU has researched and has posted articles and stories both here and on our social media pages about the effects of homosexual unions on children, and society as a whole. While we continue to care and pray for the LGBT, we cannot stop proclaiming what is right, true and in line with our faith. We hope to continue this conversation, and hopefully lead to conversion.

Some more views on this issue:

Maricel: As a mom, same sex marriage goes beyond the very nature of procreation. Children can never be borne out of same sex unions. Adoption can be an option but who gets to be called mom and dad?

Anonymous: Not because we are accepting of the lgbts mean that they can have the same lifestyle meant for heterosexuals.

Raine: Everyone has dignity and deserves to be respected and loved. However, nature always has something to teach us that whenever we try to challenge the natural design of things, there will be consequences. For one, if we start redefining marriage by allowing same-sex unions, then the definition of the family will soon be drastically changed which has a direct impact to the society. Time will come when in man’s desire to fight for his rights, he’ll realize that the human race has already become extinct. Why? Because when we keep on protecting these “rights,” we are also allowing the contraceptive mentality to take over us. People do not want to get married anymore. People do not want to procreate. Man is becoming selfish and not selfless, thinking only of what appeals at the present and not thinking of how society will be in the next generations. Yes, everyone has a right to express one’s preferences or beliefs but there are unchangeable truths that have made the human family intact all these years. These are absolute and natural and have to be accepted whether we like it or not. Just like marriage and the family. These two are traditional but the Church will always defend these institutions because all she wants is the welfare of her children. She will always fight for every right of each human person. The common good now and in the future is always prioritized, not just what a certain group or minority deems to be good at a certain period of time.

Kevin: These issues exercises the brain, heart and conviction. Though we do defend the Catholic Church’s stand on this issue, let’s not  post hate messages against the LGBT community. Condemn the act, not the person

Jo-I:  Let’s always remember this: That nothing is impossible with God. Conversion happens when a person seeks God on and on. To say that it is impossible for someone to change is an insult to the grace that God has for all of us. Yes, the struggle may be hard and frustrating. But in faith, I declare that nothing is impossible with God who loves us. The challenge is to seek God not for our own affirmation but for our willingness to be transformed and molded in His will for our lives.

Ang dapat ay masuportahan sila na maovercome din tulad natin and tendency to fall in to sin of the flesh.

A good example of one who has overcome is Ansel Beluso. Watch his story here:
