MYANMAR: Catholic Student Takes Initiative To Help Juvenile Delinquents

“I could not go on living without sharing the Gospel with others.”  This is the conviction of Chan Thawng, a Burmese Catholic student, who is working to make a difference in the lives of about 2,000 young prisoners at Children’s Prison in Nahawsan, Kawh Hmuu Township.  He, together with other visitors to the prison, have given food to address the children’s malnutrition, and they have donated books, pens and pencils for the children’s basic education. They also shared the Christian message by teaching the children some Gospel songs.  Thawng has also founded two charities – Shelter for Suffering People and New Eden Education Help after his summer holiday journeys in Myanmar when he traveled from village to village to speak about the Word of God.
