Giovanni Innocenzo Martinelli, the Apostolic Vicar of Tripoli, reports that NATO bombing of Tripoli has affected civilian areas including a Coptic church located a few hundred meters from a military barracks.
More than 700 people have been killed because of the NATO operation, and it has also injured over four thousand.
But in spite of the physical danger, more than three thousand Filipino Catholic migrants continue to work in hospitals throughout the country. They attend weekly Masses in the Cathedral and are hailed as the “heart of the local Catholic community”.
The NATO strikes have been extended for another 90 days.
