The cause of family and life in the Philippines needs strong defenders, and this is why we need to campaign for senatorial candidates who are pro-family and pro-life. This coming May elections is another phase in the battle to protect God’s plan for family and life. We cannot let the anti-life forces win. A united vote changes everything.
Four senatorial candidates made it to the list of the White Vote Movement, a coalition of Catholic lay groups campaigning for pro-family and pro-life candidates in the May 13 elections.
Nancy Binay, Richard Gordon and Miguel Zubiri from the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) and Marwil Llasos from the Ang Kapatiran Party (AKP) were formally endorsed on Saturday night by El Shaddai leader Bro. Mike Velarde at Amvel Complex in Paranaque for the May 13 polls. Velarde is the designated spokesperson of the White Vote Movement.
The four were in addition to the earlier endorsed candidates: JV Ejercito, Gringo Honasan, Mitos Magsaysay, Koko Pimentel, Antonio Trillanes IV and Cynthia Villar. This brings the number of candidates being endorsed by the White Vote Movement to ten.
In exchange for the White Vote Movement’s support, Velarde said that the candidates were made to sign a “pledge of commitment” to always fight for the Catholic Church’s stand on family and life once they get elected.
In an interview, Velarde clarified that while they endorsed these candidates, the decision on whether or not to vote for them is still with the faithful. He said the White Vote Movement will also monitor the candidates they endorsed “so we can also guide them.”
Other groups involved in the White Vote Movement include Couples for Christ-Foundation for Family and Life, Catholic Women’s League, Focolare Movement and Bukas Loob sa Diyos.
