With the raging debate on the Reproductive Health Bill, and now the Divorce Bill in the Philippines, there is another Bill being introduced that is expected to create more discussion.
The Senate has started sessions on the “Protection of the Unborn Child” Bill, which is contained in Senate Bills 2407, 2584 and 2635. The said bills acknowledge the fundamental and inalienable right to life. The bills prohibit the use of “abortifacients, abortive acts and practices that induce abortion.”
The Philippine Constitution explicitly states that the Philippines “shall equally protect the life of the mother and the life of the unborn from conception.”
