SINGAPORE: Company Apologizes to Archbishop Chia for Offensive Ad

Local event management agency Creative Insurgence was forced to pull the promotion of a dance party that was scheduled to take place the evening of Black Saturday in the chapel of what once was the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus, but is now a retail and entertainment precinct called CHIJMES in Singapore’s main commercial district.  The party was advertised with an image of a woman wearing a revealing piece of black clothing.  It drew the ire of local Catholics in Singapore, including Archbishop Nicholas Chia, who described the event as “scandalous” and called for its cancellation.  The promoters issued a formal apology and acquired an audience with the Archbishop.
