SINGAPORE: Government To Encourage Home Care Of The Elderly

The government is making plans to build up its healthcare facilities and support for the elderly.  The reason behind this is that it is estimated that there will be 117,000 semi-ambulant or non-ambulant seniors in the country by 2030.  This is 2.5 times higher than today.  Health Minister and chairman of the Ministerial Committee on Ageing, Gan Kim Yong said that “the family support, the care and the love is a very important part of therapy, and therefore (we) really want to encourage those who can be cared for at home to do so.”
