VIETNAM: Cases of Child Abuse Are Increasing

Child abuse cases are on the rise across the country as the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs cited that over 3,000 cases have been reported between 2008 to 2010.  The children were described to have suffered serious sexual and physical abuses, emotional violence and were also victims of human trafficking and crime syndicates.  A government report indicated that one reason for the increase could be a lack of awareness of a child’s rights and laws on children.
